Opel Corsa B 1993–2000 Service and Repair Manual: Maintenance procedures

The following series of operations are those most often required to improve the performance of a generally poor-running engine:

Primary operations

  1. Clean, inspect and test the battery
  2. Check all the engine-related fluids
  3. Check the condition and tension of the auxiliary drivebelt
  4. Renew the spark plugs
  5. Inspect the ignition system components
  6. Inspect the ignition HT leads
  7. Check the condition of the air filter, and renew if necessary
  8. Check the condition of all hoses, and check for fluid leaks.

If the above operations do not prove fully effective, carry out the following secondary operations:

Secondary operations

All items listed under "Primary operations", plus the following:

  1. Check the charging system
  2. Check the fuel system
  3. Renew the air filter
  4. Renew the distributor cap and rotor arm
  5. Renew the ignition HT leads.

Every 250 miles or weekly

  • Fluid level checks
  • Battery check
  • Tyre checks
